Mount Zuqualla (also spelled Zuquala, Zikwala ) is located East Shewa , about 30 kilometres south of Debre Zeith ( Bishoftu) or about 70km from Addis Ababa. it is almost 3000 metres above sea level. also 600 metres from the bottom. on top, it has a Crater lake. The view from the top includes many small hills and chains of mountains. The Crater Lake surrounded by Juniper trees and thick bushes with Columbus monkeys adds to its beauty. this is the best site for trekkers. The 13 Century Abo Moanastry Orthodox Tewhido monastery was destroyed, looted, by Ahmad ibn Ibrahim al-Ghazi ( Know as Gragn Ahmed), an imam and general of the Adal Sultanate in 1531, later built by Menelik II in 1880. the monastery is the site of a biannual festival on every Megabit / March 5 and Tikimt/ October 5 ( Ethiopian calendar).
