Wenchi Crater Lake is situated after Ambo City, 125 kms and 28km west of Addis Ababa, accessible by car on asphalt road. The magnificent landscapes, the volcanic Hot springs, surrounded by shady trees are enjoyable. Ambo yields the most popular mineral water in the country. Its hot springs have been turned in to modern spas. Wenchi Crater Lake can be accessed  Via Welisso/Wolisso town. The lake lies in unique and irregular shaped basin surrounded by chain of circular height covered by greenish Alpine vegetation. There is a 13 Century  monastery church called Saint Cherkos on the island.

In January 2024,  Wanchi–Dandi Eco-Tourism Village and Lodge was inagurated by Ethiopian Prime Ministrer Aniy Ahmed.
