Dabbahu Fissure

An active volcano, Dabbahu Fissure Site, an Earth Cracking, Geological process in the Afar Triangle (Great Rift Valley).

An eruption on September 26, 2005 created a large fissure in the ground, known as the Dabbahu fissure.

When erupted, the Afar’s camels and goats were swallowed by huge flame sand ash. Being at Dabbahu Fissure is like watching a science fiction movie that you don’t think it is real!

Dabbahu Fissure is absolutely awesome!

This site was first filmed by BBC Film Crew.  Then Action Tours discovered it for the first time with Two Canadian Tourists (Bod Man Moshe & Mike Black in 2019).  It is so fascinating area, rarely visited, remote, would be so much worthy for the thrill seekers, unique place.

Location: Afar, Zone 4, Semera - Teru Town - about 5km drive, Daure Mountain Bottom. Then start trekking.
