The Stone inscription of King Ezana (4th Century)
An English translation of Greek Text is given below:
Ezana, King of Aksum and of Himyar, and of Raidan, and of Ethiopia, and of Saba, and of Salhen, and of Siyanio, and of Bega, and of Kasu, the King of Kings, the son of the invincible god Ares. As the peoples of the Bega had rebelled, we sent our brothers Shaizana and Hadefan to make war on them. And having laid down their arms, subdued them and and brought them to us with their camp - followers, 3,112 cattle, and 6,224 sheep and pack animals, giving them cattle and grain to eat, and beer and wine and water to drink to the full according to their number, six tributary kings with their people, in number 4,000. They were received each day 22,000 wheaten cakes and wine for months whilst they bringing them to us.
