Melka Kunture is Situated at 50 kms southwest of Addis Ababa is an Archaeological site that lies on the bank of Awash River. Here, experts had excavated fossils, stone tools and related materials of the primitive man 1.5 million years old.
"Melka Kunture is a cluster of prehistoric sites in the upper Awash valley, 50 km south of Addis Ababa, at 2000m asl. It was discovered by Gerard Dekker in 1963, then surveyed by GΓ©rard Bailloud in 1964.
